5.5 Reasons Your Website Strategy Stinks!

5 ½ Reasons Your Website Strategy STINKS!
By Mark Attwood

1. You have not done your keyword research properly. No honestly, you haven’t. Sitting around in a room brainstorming what words people might type in to Google to find your website is NOT keyword research. Finding out what they ACTUALLY type in is. If you have done this properly, congratulations! You’re in the top 0.01% and don’t need to read the rest of this. Go away and continue making lots of money.

2. You have not harnessed the POWER of Google Adwords – the most powerful direct marketing medium ever created. Used properly, Google Adwords is a CASH MACHINE. If you are doing ANY of the following, you are doing it wrong:

- using Google’s default settings
- outsourcing adwords to an agency (they really don’t care about your business like you do, so why pay them to do a half-arsed job?)
- lumping your campaigns onto both the search and the content network
- not using negative keywords
- not using broad, phrase and exact match
- lumping lots of different keywords into the same AdGroups
- not using conversion tracking
- not split testing adverts to increase CTRs

3. You do not understand how SEO works and you are not doing it properly. Well, if you are still reading this statement is highly likely to be true, especially if you are not doing any of the following…

- using Google Analytics to discover which keywords actually make money
- building links from SEO Friendly directories using the right ANCHOR TEXT based on the research results found in Adwords and Analytics
- building links to your web pages from blogs that you own and control (blogs that have age, PR and relevancy)
- Building web pages around “keyword themes”
- Including your keywords in your page title, URL, Meta Description, Meta Keywords, H1, H2, Body Copy
- Creating articles based on what you sell and spinning thousands of them out across the web to generate free links for life
- Analysing the links to your competitors sites and reverse engineering what it takes to rank at the top for your target keywords (you know, the ones that make money?)

4. You do not understand how CRO works. Never heard of Conversion Rate Optimisation? It’s the difference between average and astounding profits. You’re not doing it if…

- your website bangs on about you and not what’s in it for your customer
- you have to click to get to a contact form
- you’ve got accredited logos from third parties “below the fold”
- you’re not recording each user session on your website and applying what you learn from your visitors behaviour
- you’re more concerned with the look and feel of your website than whether it actually makes any money
- you’re not giving information away in exchange for email addresses
- you don’t have an Integrated Blog and you blog regularly
- you don’t email your customer list on a very regular basis

5. You don’t have any Social Media accounts for your business. Social Media is here to stay and you are invited to the party – but you’ve got to know what you’re doing…

- Going online to COMMUNICATE is officially the No.1 reason why people go online (it used to be to get information). You’ve got to engage with people in the way that they use the medium
- Facebook has over 9 million UK accounts (that’s nearly as big as the BBC) and you have the ability to target these users by their age, job title, workplace, sex, address. This kind of live demographic targeting has NEVER been possible before (unless you worked for the CIA)
- Twitter’s real-time search information has been bought by Google and Bing and is already being included in search results
- YouTube is the 2nd biggest search engine on Earth (owned by the biggest ☺) and our society is moving from a text to a visual basis – if you’re not creating video for your business, you’re going to die!

5 ½. You’re not a member of Mark Attwood’s Inner Circle. Who the hell is Mark Attwood? No one, really. But…

- He created the world’s first online skip hire business, TopSkips.com, in 2003.
- Has found himself suddenly talking in the 3rd person about himself (weird)
- In the past 4 years he’s generated over £14 million from internet marketing alone
- He’s been profiled in The Daily Telegraph and featured on the Chris Evans and Jeremy Vine Shows on BBC Radio 2.
- “The King of Madison Avenue”, David Ogilvy, said that Drayton Bird “knows more about direct marketing than anyone on Earth”. Drayton Bird says that Mark Attwood: “knows more about how to make a lot of money online with very little than anyone I’ve ever met”
- Has helped scores of UK business owners achieve 2000% + increases in traffic and profits within the first few months he started teaching
- Has an online members area with regularly updated video training designed to do one thing only for UK Business Owners: MAKE YOUR BUSINESS MORE PROFITABLE ONLINE

**You can get a free copy of Mark’s DVD recording of a seminar he was invited to give at Manchester Metropolitan University in 2009 called “How To Make Money Using SEO and Internet Marketing” here: http://budurl.com/FreeSEODVD **

P.S. That’s a budurl.com link. It’s completely safe, and it’s a way of measuring how many clicks this letter generates – something you should be doing in all your marketing. You cannot manage what you don’t measure.

P.P.S. When you get the DVD, Mark asks you to cover the cost of producing it and sending it to you (£4.95). If you get it and think it was a waste of a fiver, send it back to him and he’ll give you your money back. Oh, he also sends you his “Top Ten Tips To Instantly Boost Your Online Profits” when you request the DVD. For nothing.

P.P.P.S. Go to Google and enter Internet Marketing Expert. Can you see markattwood.com anywhere?

P.P.P.P.S. (Last one I promise). You see the big problem is that business owners like you are married to the business and put off internet marketing by all the jargon. But that’s all it is: jargon. I’ll help you get over that hump, take control of your marketing and hopefully stop you being ripped off by expensive web designers, seo companies and marketing that simply doesn’t work.
